Floor Area Measurement:
The key criteria used by valuers and online calculators alike to reach their rebuild estimate is your FLOOR AREA MEASUREMENT.
It is critical to all value calculations that this is correct!
Measuring up the foot-print of your property is by no means rocket-science, but it does take a little know-how.
It was certainly something Bevan Fleming, our Senior Valuer, had to be taught at the beginning of his career as a graduate valuer many moons ago…having since undertaken 1000s of onsite measure-ups they are now of course second nature.
In response to the changes to home insurance policies, we started asking our ‘current market valuation’ clients how they would go about measuring up the floor area of a house? Most were quite daunted by the responsibility of a DIY measure-up!
Having had no real luck finding some simple instructions online that we could pass on, we’ve decided to get a short “how to video” produced giving the basic steps for measuring the floor area of a house and out-buildings.
This video is currently in production with a graphic artist, we hope to have it live in the next few weeks.
If keen to watch, just use our enquiry form and we’ll send you the link as soon as it’s published.
Of course, if you instruct us to undertake a Sum Insured Valuation, Bevan Fleming will himself measure-up your property as part of the report service.
You can be assured that we don’t send out a graduate or what some firms call an “assessor” to collect required data, all our onsite inspections are undertaken by a Senior Valuer in person.
For peace of mind, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
